Gaged lives (poem)

Checked with my heart 2 am in the night,

Got the same reply- wasn’t ready to put up a fight.

The heartbeats craved a walk, in the calm breeze, silent and free.

To a place always imagined- away from tiring circles of life.

Free from highs to low, and lows to high,

Free from living like a rat in a race, afraid to lose its life.

Free from fighting breakthroughs made of stones.

Free from hitting them harder, just to see more bones.

Yet we stand here, facing that big wall

Desperately figuring out ways to end the block

Clawing through the underground gates, flying over lonely skies.

They repeatedly said, to always put up a fight,

The quest for gold, has us buried deep in the dark.

Instilled and infused with worries of us fading fast.

We just have to realize, we are all caged,

Trapped in this world of heartbreak, with our lives gaged.

Checked with my heart 2 am in the night,

Got the same reply – still wasn’t ready to put up a fight.
